PREVIEW 71 INTERNATIONAL IHS | www.ihs.com BASIN DATABASE Our team of dedicated and experienced Geologists / Basin Researchers, supplemented by a number of Basin Consultants, research and source through the latest geological data from recently published papers, conferences publications, and more original unpublished material when available. Our geologists revise the definition and the geological history of the basin and analyze the different elements of the basin’s plays and petroleum systems. They are also responsible for the compilation of the exploration and production activity in the basin and for the loading and validation of all the data onto our corporate database. The Basin Database is actually a composite term used to describe a number of related subject areas within the International E&P Database data model. These basin-related subject areas consist of: » Geological Provinces » Stratigraphic Units » Petroleum Systems » Plays » Bibliography This database can be used in modern computer-based analytical techniques such as prospect appraisal, regional resource assessment, basin modeling and regional and worldwide geological analysis. The database now comprises more than 1,111 petroleum systems, 3,014 genetic units, 30,585 stratigraphic units, 4,880 play types, 6,024 geological images, and 64,728 bibliographic reference titles.
