IHS Global Energy Information Review

LAND U.S. CONTINUED WELL LOCATIONS IHS Latitudes/Longitude values (Lat/Long) are calculated or manually spotted from IHS Well Locations data for all new permits and completions. Today, there are IHS Lat/Long values for 99% of the wells in the IHS U.S. Well database. Both surface, proposed, and actual bottom hole locations are updated on a daily basis. We understand that delivering correct U.S. well locations is critically important to you therefore we validate the IHS Lat/Long values to the regulatory provided Lat/Longs for all new permits on a daily basis. We took a proactive approach in 2010 to begin to compare the historic IHS Lat/Longs to the regulatory agency Lat/Longs, where the IHS Lat/Longs were different by 500 feet or greater. In addition to the comparison, we have researched well locations and added Lat/Long values on over 50,000 wells. 118 Lat/Long Validation IHS has previously validated historic Lat/Longs in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, California, Pennsylvania and Ohio. In 2012 we worked West Virginia, North Dakota, Arizona, Arkansas, Virginia, and Utah. Of the 104,323 wells reviewed that exceeded 500’ lateral tolerance: »» 22% - IHS was correct »» 20% - State was correct (most in the Northeast) »» 17% - Neither were correct »» 40% - R equires further research, primarily Oklahoma and Texas older wells where online documents are not available We are currently validating the remaining states to 500’ and have begun the review of historic Lat/Longs at a 250’ tolerance in Texas. 42,617 18,833 22,502 20,371 n IHS Correct n State Correct - IHS Respotted n Neither Correct - IHS Respotted n Further Research Needed
