120 WELLS & LOGS U.S. The IHS Well database contains more than 4 million current and historic well records. It is the largest, most comprehensive U.S. well database available and it goes far beyond state regulatory data. Through solid partnerships with operators and drilling contractors, IHS obtains access to well data before state reports are even filed. We capture and maintain data that some states never obtain. Our experts work directly in the field, talking to more than 2,000 contacts across the country to track wells from drilling to initial potential. More than 100 geoscientists and information professionals conduct a series of quality checks including adding formation names for local reservoirs and ensuring that wells are assigned to the correct field. We standardize the data from multiple states into one consistent database that can be easily accessed via Enerdeq Browser, IHS Web Services, Petra or PowerTools.
