CANADA IHS | www.ihs.com 29 CORE ANALYSES IHS is an industry leader in providing sub-surface data, including Canadian Core Analyses Data – a critical dataset supporting exploration, drilling, reservoir management and production activities. Core Analyses Data is tightly integrated with IHS software applications, allowing companies to identify stratigraphic traps, evaluate difficult zones, determine porosity and estimate recovery. IHS provides core data for over 125,000 oil and natural gas wells in Canada. The dataset also contains conventional, heavy oil and sidewall cores, detailed information such as porosity, permeability, density, lithological descriptions and plug numbers (sample number/type) for all provinces. Current and historical data are sourced from provincial agencies, often in hardcopy format. IHS collects and reconciles all of the divergent data sources into one dataset and makes this data available to customers in a digital format. Data is available for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern and Eastern Frontiers and is updated regularly.
