SPATIAL CANADA CONTINUED ENHANCED CULTURE IHS Enhanced Culture contains supplementary information that complements IHS Culture Data. The data found with Enhanced Culture provides greater contextual background information useful for planning and modeling projects. Available for all of Canada, this data can be used during the planning process to create a better overall picture in an area of interest. 48 Use IHS Enhanced Culture Data to understand topographic features in areas beyond the standard Base Culture boundaries Enhanced Hydrography Detailed hydrography/drainage coverage of ordered, categorized and networked waterbodies gathered from source material ranging from 1:10,000 to 1:50,000 scales Vegetation Wooded areas defined as being covered by trees or shrubs with a minimum two meter height Wetlands Water-saturated areas covered with varied typed of vegetation; aquatic plants, reeds, rushes, shrubs, and trees Buildings Major buildings in dense, urban areas and larger rural buildings are included and categorized based on use. Additional smaller buildings may be found in the point layer Geological Features Surficial features, including eskers, pingos and glacial debris Hydrographic Obstructions Disturbances or impediments to the natural flow of water including dams, levees, falls, rapids, gates etc. Navigation Aids Locations of lighted navigation structures and non-lighted beacons for the purpose of guiding navigators Physiography Delineates various landscapes such as Palsa Bogs, Permanent Snow and Ice, Glaciers, String Bogs, Tundra and Tundra Ponds. Structures Manmade structures like fences, silos, tanks, fire lookouts and radio telescopes Toponyms Topographic feature names including waterbody names, shorelines, and mountain ranges Underground Reservoirs Underground basins or artificially covered basins for storage of potable water
