73 INTERNATIONAL IHS | www.ihs.com UNCONVENTIONAL DATABASE AND PLAY MONITOR Play Monitor In November 2012, IHS commenced delivering a dynamic and subscription based unconventional play database through EDIN. It started modestly with 19 Shale oil & gas and CBM plays in Europe and now has grown to some 103 plays in December 2013, distributed across Europe, South America, Southern Africa, Russia and Indonesia. IHS will be progressively adding at least 100 plays a year until all the important matured to prospective plays are covered across the globe. The database aims to record and monitor the unconventional hydrocarbon plays across the globe. The main objective is to provide a global platform for rapid analogue studies based on uniform geological, geochemical, geophysical attributes, resource estimates and up-to-date activity data. Currently, the emphasis is on Shale, Tight Oil & Gas and CBM plays identified within IHS in-house databases, additional studies and public domain literature. The Unconventional Play Database comprises two components, the Play Monitor and the Spatial Data.
