CONTRACTS, BLOCKS, COMPANIES AND PARTICIPANTS INTERNATIONAL CONTINUED BLOCKS DATABASE The Block database contains more than 122,100 current or historical contract-blocks and more than 87,800 currently available or past bidding/offered blocks and open areas. The block database provides detailed coordinates defining the block outline and geographical area covered in either the original datum or standardized in WGS 84. Additional data also provided in the block database includes: 76 »» Start and End date of the bidding rounds »» Bidding round name »» Block’s total area and split area (land, shelf, deep water) »» Basins »» Political provinces »» Resource type and unconventional type In addition to the in-built data validations, various spatial data validation processes were set up to eliminate overlaps and gaps between blocks. Bidding blocks available (in green) for the Myanmar Offshore 1st International Bid Round 2013 which started in April 2013 Recent Enhancements · More than 6,100 contract-blocks and 16,200 bidding blocks or open areas were entered into the database during 2013. · A number of Quality Projects on blocks and spatial data were completed throughout the year, including: »»Bidding round name standardisation in Brazil, North Sea and Australasia »»Complete replacement of all block coordinates with more precise and official in Colombia. »»Replacement of NAD 27 coordinates by NAD 83 coordinates for all current blocks in Alaska. »»Spatial review of several countries, correcting overlaps and gaps · One of our Quality Goals aims to ensure more than 90% of bidding round blocks are entered within 5 days of the official announcement. We are continuing to exceed our target for this goal with currently more than 99.2% entered within the target timeframe. · Following the addition of the new attribute datum qualifier in the block database during 2013, a new Quality Goal aiming to have more than 95% of the blocks with a specific datum and datum qualifier populated by the end of 2014.
