CANADA IHS | www.ihs.com 51 IHS Power & Transmission Data is seen here integrated with other IHS datasets POWER & TRANSMISSION IHS Power & Transmission Data includes major transmission lines and transformer stations as well as other power infrastructure features. The dataset provides greater contextual background information useful for planning and modeling purposes and can create a better overall picture of an area of interest to help mitigate unexpected concerns before entering the field. The dataset is also useful for locating existing infrastructure and possible sources of electricity. Telus® TRENCH IHS TELUS Trench Data contains locations of buried TELUS communication lines in British Columbia and Alberta. The dataset provides greater contextual background information useful for planning and modeling projects. The data can create a better overall picture of an area of interest to help mitigate unexpected concerns before entering the field. AltaLIS® SURFACE CONTOURS IHS partners with AltaLIS for the AltaLIS Surface Contours dataset. This data focuses on Contour Linework, two dimensional contour lines and arcs at ten meters (20 meters in mountainous regions) intervals and elevation text derived from 1:20,000 OEM data. The contours consist of arcs and index annotation that combine to create a cartographic theme to define Alberta’s topography. The contour is based on the AltaLIS comprehensive Digital Elevation Module. AltaLIS® BASE CULTURE IHS offers its clients access to AltaLIS 20K Base Culture data, a spatial database product to which other natural resource and land management information can be related. The database contains surface topographic layers depicting natural and man-made features on the earth’s surface, such as hydrography, access networks and geo-administrative areas. The AltaLIS Base Culture database is recognized as one of the best quality databases in terms of accuracy and detail of all culture datasets in Alberta. The Base data coverage is in line with the National Topographic System (NTS) grid with a 1:20,000 NTS map sheet covering the area of approximately 2.5 townships. Using IHS Culture Data as a reference, TELUS Trench Data provides relevant utility locations. Product Features: »» Hydrography - The extent of land covered by intermittent or permanent water bodies or watercourse including direction of flow »» Access - The location and nature of features that can be used to gain vehicular access to land and resources and to dispositions related to surface activities »» Geo-Administrative Areas - Land areas that have explicitly defined boundaries, established by legislation or by an agency to manage or administer land use
